Malibu's ride home.

All dogs ride with Eric.

Sleepy girl riding home.
Just like Freddy, the wiener dog, Malibu had a two-hour ride home.  She was an excellent car rider.
Oops! Harness was way too big!

Freddy's NEW Significant Other

Malibu
Freddy, the wiener dog, introduces his new significant other - Malibu! She's a 4-year-old, petite, chocolate/tan dapple-colored Mini-Dachshund. Her hobbies are digging in the dirt and chasing lizards and squirrels. It's a match made in heaven.

Desert Camo Doxie!
Here's a comment from a friend:  "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the official unveiling of the MK-32 Attack Dachshund. Pictured here in a desert camouflage pattern, the MK-32 can be configured to handle a wide variety of lizard attack missions."  Thanks, Chris!

Now, Mommy just needs to tell Freddy.........

Freddy's big walk

Hot, but happy Freddy
Freddy, the wiener dog, walked a new route today.  It was hot, exciting, interesting, and a little dangerous.  Freddy loved it.  We dropped the big boys off at the middle school and then parked the car in the parking lot behind the school.  Next to it, there's a sidewalk that goes between the elementary school and townhouses.  We took that sidewalk and it empties at a main artery through the subdivision - Okay, it's a two-lane street, but it's bigger than the other streets in the subdivision.  We turned right and walked up to the main road through our little corner of the world.  We turned right and walked in front of the elementary school, down the side of the middle school, and to the back parking lot where the car was parked.  The route was a big square.  Freddy was well-behaved and didn't bark at anybody, even though one of the teenagers barked at Freddy.  He was very excited to see Joshua walking to school.  Towards the end, he was running a little bit to keep up but he made it.  It was a hot morning, but not unbearable.  It was exciting because it was a new route with lots to see and smell.  It was interesting to walk past all those teenagers headed to the middle school and noticing all the different reactions to Freddy.  The dangerous part was walking across a section of parking lot where the middle school car-line and the elementary school car-line cross.  At least, it would have been dangerous if it weren't for all the drivers slowing down and enjoying the view of a little wiener dog.  People gave us plenty of room to get through.  One nice man in a pick-up truck rolled down his window and yelled, "Nice Doxie!"  Freddy had a good drink of water back at the car and we headed home.  Freddy looked like he was smiling.

How to entertain a puppy...for an hour or more.

Give her the empty peanut butter jar.

1. Chase it.
2. Chew it.

4. "Hmmm. How do I get to the bottom?"
3. Lick it.

What a ruckus!

Freddy, the wiener dog, went for his evening walk with Daisy and his people.  First, we let Freddy hunt for lizards while Mark went across the street to return Jack's flip-flops.  I throw a woobie for Freddy to grab for his walk.  Unfortunately, Freddy reaches the woobie just as Daisy started bark/baying at the figure coming across the road.  Freddy barks and runs after "the intruder."  When he realized it was Mark, his attention turned toward a cat running away.  Freddy veers off and starts after the cat.  Eric chases Freddy down and brings him back.  We put the leash on Freddy and begin our walk.  Of course we immediately see Tank (his nemesis).  Eric's friend Kevin and his 3-year-old sister Rachel join us.  Freddy's not comfortable around small children and he's nervous with Rachel walking behind him.  He keeps turning his head to see where she's at.  We continue walking and cross paths with two Irish Setters.  Freddy barks at them too.  We passed by cats, one big dog (Junior), one little dog (didn't know him) and lots of dogs barking from inside their houses.  Everything upset Freddy.  What a ruckus!  Growl, bark...growl, bark...bark, bark, bark.  As we're nearing our house we see two more little dogs (didn't know these either).  The owner of one little dog wouldn't reel in the extend-o-leash even with Freddy ready to rip her dog's head off.  Jeff had to pick Freddy up.  Almost home and there's two more cats.  One cat was at the end of our driveway and didn't know which way to run.  It hunkered down and waited for us to pass.  Luckily we made it home without Freddy's drawing blood from anybody.  Gee, I so can't wait to do this again tomorrow night.

The Shining

"Mom!"
Jack came over to visit with Mark today.  Freddy hates Jack.  Freddy wouldn't stop barking at Jack.  Freddy even came and got me.  I followed him to Mark's room where Jack was playing.  "Mom! He's in the house!"  Whenever I think of Jack and how much Freddy dislikes him, I think of Jack Nicholson in The Shining.  "Heeeeeeeeeeeeeere's Johnny!"

A boy and his dog.

Eric and Daisy had a fun afternoon playing together when Eric got home from school.  (I spent two hours trying to get the photographs in order.  This is best I could do.  Thanks.)

Be careful what you wish for.

Freddy, the wiener dog, looooooooves digging in the dirt.  He can spend hours digging in the dirt.  While there, he also checks on his woobies.  Daisy, the little sister, doesn't want Freddy to dig in the dirt.  She wants Freddy to play with her.  She antagonized Freddy by taking six woobies, but Freddy still dug in the dirt.  Finally, she started her silly puppy run.  She nips at Freddy's bottom or at his face when she runs by...This eventually did annoy Freddy.

Freddy! I have your woobies!
Come on! Play with me!

Come on! Play with ME!
I think it's working!

Be careful what you wish for.

Mommy is mad, mad, mad, mad.

The scene of the crime.
Freddy, the wiener dog, went for his morning walk with Mommy and Daisy.  Freddy always looks for lizards in the front bushes before we leave for our walk.  Daisy just wants to eat mulch and sticks.  While Freddy and Daisy are busy with their morning pursuits, Mommy is watching a neighbor boy, maybe 10 years old, walking an enormous black mountain of a dog across the street.  Mommy waits until they are out of sight - at least a block or more - before the threesome headed down the sidewalk in the opposite direction.  Mommy, Freddy and Daisy are cheerfully walking along when they hear, "Dooley, NO!"  Freddy's group turns and sees the enormous black dog flying at full speed toward them with a frightened boy being dragged behind.  It looked like the dog was aiming for Daisy Mae.  Because the boy didn't give a warning to the threesome, Freddy and his girls only had seconds before the black dog would plow into them.  Freddy and Daisy were barking at the big dog.  They were holding their ground, but Daisy moved back while Freddy moved forward.  Freddy was clearly ready to launch himself at the big dog.  Mommy turned around and braced herself.  She was ready to drop both the leashes to grab the head of the enormous black dog.  Mommy didn't care if Freddy and Daisy attacked the black dog...in fact, she was going to need the help, but she couldn't allow that enormous jaw to clamp down onto Freddy Baby or Daisy Mae.  Mommy half snarled/half yelled, "Get control of your DOG!"  We're not sure what happened next, but the enormous black dog almost skidded to a halt.  He was still snarling and pulling on his leash, but not so badly that the little boy couldn't get control of the leash, sort of, and drag his dog the other way.  Freddy and his girls continued holding their ground until the dog was half a block away, then they turned and walked in the opposite direction.  After that, Freddy was wound up tight and looking for another fight, but the threesome completed their walk without another incident.  Mommy is so relieved that neither Freddy Baby or Daisy Mae were injured.  However, Mommy is mad, mad, mad, mad.  Why do irresponsible people get dogs, especially large dogs, if they're not doing to train and control them?  What a morning!

Freddy, the velociraptor? Dude.

"Be very quiet....We're hunting lizards."
Freddy, the wiener dog, likes to hunt lizards. Rarely, but every once in a while, he catches one. This morning Freddy caught one. As soon as he stepped onto the pool patio, he saw a lizard in the corner and ran for it..with Daisy close behind. Freddy caught it in his mouth, walked around, spit it out and picked it up a couple of times, and then finally killed it. He crushed its skull. It sounded like Jurassic Park III when the velociraptor breaks Mr. Kowalski's neck. *shudders* I can still hear that bone-crunching sound. *shudders, again* Okay, so, after the kill, Freddy's done with the lizard. Daisy, who couldn't figure out why Freddy had the lizard in the first place, walks over to check it out. She sniffs it. She picks it up and immediately spits it back out of her mouth. Ew. Then, she gingerly picks it up and walks it back to the corner where Freddy caught it. She was taking it home! Oh, Daisy. Freddy, that was icky. Dude.

Eric to the rescue!

Freddy's little tiger
Freddy, the wiener dog, went for his morning walk...so did a squirrel. The squirrels in our neighborhood are psycho. This one was no different. Mommy put the harness on Freddy Baby and he grabbed his woobie, a little tiger. Mommy doesn't hook the leash to the harness right away because Freddy could walk himself...unless we came across another dog...and Freddy thinks it's after his woobie...and a fight ensues.... Anyway, Freddy stops at the end of the driveway and we hook up before stepping onto the sidewalk. Today, when Freddy reached the end of the driveway, a squirrel jumped out of a tree in front of him. Any closer and it would have landed on his head! Freddy takes off running after the squirrel. That naughty squirrel could have just run up a tree, instead it keeps running down the sidewalk. Soon they were at the end of the street and getting ready to turn the corner. Thankfully Eric was with us. Eric can run very, very fast...faster than Freddy. From behind me, Eric comes whizzing by and quickly catches Freddy. He also scared off the squirrel. The Incredible Hulk, um, er...Freddy...stomps down the sidewalk looking for more squirrels. Daddy and Daisy come trailing behind. She's tracking the squirrel. Good job, Daisy, but Freddy already took care of it.

Here's JOSHUA!

Here's JOSHUA!
Freddy, the wiener dog, has a special visitor tonight. Steven is having a sleep-over. Joshua is Steven's special needs friend. The two have been best friends since 1st grade. Freddy adores Joshua. He follows Joshua around the house and will jump into his arms. Right now, Freddy is laying at Joshua's feet. Whenever we drop Joshua back home, Freddy whines for him. Tonight, when Steven and I picked Joshua up, Freddy really cried and whined at Joshua from the car window. "Where have you been?!"  (Gee, Freddy sees Joshua every Saturday.)  Freddy is kind to Joshua, a gentle giant. Freddy has such a big heart...and he recognizes the one in Joshua too.

The Crazies

Freddy's hammerhead shark
Freddy, the wiener dog, went for a walk tonight with Mommy.  As usual, we had to pass the big wooden fence with three or four dogs behind it.  The Crazies.  They're not well-behaved and they attack each other when Freddy walks by...on the other side of the street.  Another couple was walking their little Chihuahua on the sidewalk right next to The Crazies' fence.  It's obvious the fence isn't in good shape and there's even broken boards at the bottom.  That couple actually let their little Chihuahua put its paws up on the fence to listen to or look at The Crazies.  Freddy started barking, growling and shaking the shark, but he looked like he was warning that little Chihuahua away from the fence.  Freddy didn't start his fit until the little doggie put his paws up.  Of course, The Crazies were attacking each other.  Can you imagine if one of those big dogs put its mouth through the fence and pulled that little Chihuahua into the backyard?  Some people shouldn't be dog owners - including the owners of The Crazies and the little Chihuahua.
